I literally couldn't leave it. It meant that my two boys had to go into nursery crying every day and I didn't have a choice whether they attended or not because my business demanded my presence.The reason?I had designed it poorly and that meant I wasn't in control of my time. I felt like a hamster going round and round on a wheel getting nowhere.The way I turned my life around?I created a freedom business in which I leveraged my expertise rather than my time for money. This changed everything.If you have a passion, inside knowledge, expertise in any area of life, you can do it too. It's just a different way of looking at business. Leverage your efforts towards freedom rather than imprisonment.Topic 2 Key Area of ImprovementGood Girl SyndromeThe “good girl syndrome” is so common to all women and does not stop just because we have a business.Girls, unlike boys, are trained to be “good”…It means waiting for permission, not pushing to the front, putting others before oneself, pleasing people, not asserting one's point of view.These traits are often considered a good thing but when they are ingrained to a very deep level they can become burdensome and get in the way of reaching our business goals and our full potential.Being a “people pleaser” caused me so much stress even just a few short years ago. I was so desperate to be good and well-liked and fair and amiable that I lost sight of who I was and where I wanted to go.The cure?It was having very focused business outcomes coupled with a strong reason why I wanted to achieve those outcomes.Michael Gerber (creator of the E Myth) often asks: “what does this thing look like when it's done?”I had a very clear idea about what my business would look like when it was done and it freed me from the shackles of good girl syndrome because now I had a destination and a compelling reason why I wanted to go there.You too can do the same.Topic 3 Key Area of ImprovementThe End In MindI have a framework that I teach women who want to create a freedom business.It’s called F.R.E.E. and the first letter F stands for: Focusing with the end goal in mind.The end goal is the model you use to create your freedom business. In a world where there is an unending supply of “shiny objects” to distract us from what we could and should be doing, a woman who sticks to her model always wins.There are various models out there that we can use to create freedom but we must pick just one at first and get very very accomplished at executing it. Too many of us dabble and don't decide.So, pick a model that is proven to work; pick a mentor who can walk you through the steps and then execute.For example, in my first freedom business, I used a “book - seminar - sell” model that worked a treat. I had written a book about my subject and used it to build a decent list of people that might be interested in my “1 day wake-up” seminar. From there, I introduced my audience to my flagship product.The result?A high six figure business within a year.Focus, focus, focus. Do not be distracted and success will surely follow.Topic 4 Key Area of ImprovementRight Fit ClientServing right-fit clients is as important as any other aspect of business. Too many businesses fail because of a disconnect between the product or service and the market it is aimed at.A great product in the wrong market will fail just as surely as a poor product in the right market.Many small businesses have no idea who their right fit client is. One thing is for sure: your product or service is not for anyone. It is designed, whether you know it or not, to be attractive to a subset of people within a niche.For example, my first expert business was aimed at chiropractic practice owners. But not just any chiropractic practice owners. They had to be attracted to the idea of creating a “with or without you” practice.In other words, owners who wanted to be free from the tyranny of being chained to their business 24/7.Getting specific around who your product or service is for will explode your business into areas you never dreamed it could go!Topic 5 Key Area of ImprovementVisibilityWe've all heard the expression “all roads lead to Rome”. Well, this is true of your business and your visibility strategies…all visibility tactics should lead to a sale or the prospect of a sale.The “roads” in this metaphor are diverse. I divide them between soft and hard strategies.Soft strategies include techniques such as culture building, nurturing a group, giving away free content, answering people when they ask questions, being transparent and honest, being authentic and not pretending to be someone you're not.Hard strategies include Facebook ads, YouTube ads, metrics, KPIs, click-thru rates and so on.For the beginner, one or two strategies at a time is more than enough. If you don't have a visibility strategy in place, don't worry. You're not alone. Pick a mentor you trust that can walk you through them and then execute!This is the way to bring a glut of right fit clients into your sales funnel.Topic 6 Key Area of ImprovementLead MagnetIt looks like your business has the need for a lead magnet.You can think of a lead magnet as some kind of stimulus that is aimed at a particular demographic in the marketplace.It is designed to catch the attention of your right-fit client and to cause some kind of discombobulation within her. In other words, it aims to bring up something in her head that she may have been avoiding or sweeping under the carpet or it might offer a chance of transformation, improvements or relief.The result of this stimulation is a kind of agitation that is felt by the right fit client and a desire for the right-for client to have the agitation resolved.There are a number of ways to resolve it including filling out a survey form, attending a webinar or booking a strategy session.No matter how it is done, a lead magnet is absolutely crucial in your business.Topic 7 Key Area of ImprovementSales FunnelA sales funnel allows us to curate a client's voyage through our business. Just like any other voyage, there should be a beginning, a middle and a destination.Business experts speak a lot about clients being “ascended through a sales funnel..”What this essentially means is that your right fit clients will buy a lower priced product or service before they truly commit to a higher priced offering.This is perfectly normal and even desirable. Freedom businesses always have multiple levels at which a prospective right fit client can buy.Our job is to construct a sales funnel that is compelling, provides outstanding value and solves pressing problems your right-fit client is experiencing.For example, the quiz you have just completed is part of my sales funnel. It ticks a lot of boxes. First is interesting (and even compelling) to my right-fit client. Second, it shows you that I understand your challenges because I have been there myself. Lastly, it helps you to see who I am, and if you like and trust me, we might be a good fit to work together in the future.That’s good for both of us.If you're unsure how to construct a compelling sales funnel, pick a mentor you trust to take you through the steps and execute!Topic 8 Key Area of ImprovementWebinarEvery freedom business needs a vehicle within which “leads” can be converted into “clients”.The vehicle will vary depending on the niche the business is in and on the skills of the Freedom business owner and her philosophy.A Webinar is a fantastic tool in which to educate your prospective right fit clients on what you do, why you do it, and how your solutions can help them.It is a long-form conversation that allows the freedom business owner to display her understanding of her right fit client’s problems.A webinar is a vehicle that builds trust, interest and ultimately (if executed correctly), will generate sales.For example, 10 people on a webinar will usually convert to one sale… this is good to know! It means that a freedom business can scale using webinars alone.20 attendees in one week will equal to 2 sales, 30 will equal 3 sales and so on.Assuming the product the webinar leads to is priced at £1000, that’s £3000 per week…not bad.Whatever conversion vehicle you pick, it will have to be “long-form” where your right fit clients can get to know you, can get to trust you and ultimately can get to buy from you.Topic 9 Key Area of ImprovementSubscriptionA monthly subscription service, if executed correctly, will literally set you free!In my first business (a “bricks and mortar business''), I made every mistake in the book.I designed the business so that it required me to be there constantly. I had not put in structures and systems that allowed it to run without me. I certainly didn't have a subscription service.When I realised the corner I had painted myself into, I radically changed the structure of the business.One of the first things I did was put in a subscription service and the results were amazing! By the time I sold that business, I had well over 1000 subscribers as well as all the ongoing income in all the other areas of the business.It literally freed me!My overhead: staff wages, bills, etc. were covered on the first of the month, without me even lifting a finger.What a relief…A monthly subscription strategy will transform the way you do business.Topic 10 Key Area of ImprovementEvergreenFor a woman wanting to create a freedom business, automation is absolutely essential.My first business was a “bricks and mortar business” and in that business I had designed it such that my presence was required constantly. Few things were automated; lead generation was difficult, conversion was problematic, customer delight was patchy and on and on.What this meant to personally was this:I didn't have enough time to see my two young boys grow up. In fact, I had the awful task of sending them into a nursery every morning where they would cry as the nursery teachers prized them from my arms.It is something that will live with me for the rest of my days. But I had no choice because the business needed me and the business paid for everything.I wasn't in control, the business was.When I changed things around and designed a freedom business, automation was essential.Automation of processes, of strategies, of tactics, of visibility, of client care, client acquisition and so on …..
